Club Meeting - Guest Speaker - That Pilot Guy
Jun. 18, 2026 6:00 p.m.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 5:30pm for 6:00pm in the upstairs meeting room at the Gold Coast Tavern, 150 Bundall Road, Bundall, Gold Coast, Queensland.

Our guest speaker tonight is Cran Middlecoat - aka That Pilot Guy.  From his earliest days, Cran’s love affair with the skies was unmistakable — he was licensed to fly before he was licensed to drive. Taking his school teachers flying was just the beginning, as his passion for aviation became part of who he is. With thousands of hours logged in the cockpit, Cran’s journey has taken him from the rugged terrain of outback Australia, flying clinics for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, to the busy corridors of international airports, piloting massive jet airliners with precision.
But Cran’s story takes a profound turn when faced with the stark reality of mortality, awakening in intensive care, forever changed. From this crucible emerged a man driven by a singular mission: to redefine failure, to shatter the illusion of perfection, and to embrace the discomfort that accompanies growth.

Cran shares his belief in turning failure into success through practice and resilience.

Cran presents his authentic story with hilarious anecdotes that serve as poignant illustrations of his message. He reminds us that failure is not the end, but a vital chapter in the journey of success, and that the pursuit of perfection is futile without the grit forged in practice.
